About
The library patio. They said, "Can't you picture it with
some art here?" (Photo by Allen Ouimet.)
So, how did all this
art and music wind up in Library Park?
The narrative version
Somebody responsible for Ideat Village got the idea that the Brass
City needed a little shaking up. Why should New Haven have all the fun?
Besides, why can't bands from Waterbury get a show in their own city? And
why should music fans here have to travel to hear live music? He told a
bunch of fellow Waterbury residents his idea. They told a bunch of official
types. Amazingly, nobody tried to stop them. Encouraged, they agreed to
scrape something together. A call for musicians went out. Soon, there were
nearly 20 bands, almost without trying. They found some artists, too.
Who knew there was this much happening around here?
